A little about my VW photography exhibit and shop:
A lot of my photography in this series reflects my interest in liminal space--the space of transition--both in abandoned spaces and ourselves.
I also have a junkyard out in Landers, in the desert, near Joshua Tree, that my daughters and I turned into our own art 'laboratory'. In addition to photography, I’ve always had a passion for desert found object art, and my daughters and I spend time building robots, spaceships, pirate ships, solar systems, etc out of the different materials and parts we discovered in the space.
After my last photography exhibit where I used more traditional framing, I wanted to find a new and more sustainable way to present my work that drew from this landscape of abandoned treasures—one that didn’t just display my photographs but became became central to their meaning.
That's when I started using VW doors and mirrors as frames; these discarded objects, remade by time and the elements, echo the liminal spaces I capture in my images. The mirrors, once used to navigate movement, now reflect stillness, turning the act of looking into something layered and uncertain.
By repurposing these objects, I am engaged in a process of reanimation, repurposing waste into vehicles of meaning, and therein I am reinforcing the themes of passage, memory, and transformation that define both my work and the materials that now hold it.
Each piece has been found either in my junkyard and other junkyards that I’ve discovered in the course of road-trips through the west. When I find a mirror or door, I choose one of my images that feels right in its pairing. Then I customize each print to the size of each mirror or door.
Each piece has a story for me. It’s been a labor of love and an adventure in the making of each one. I hope you enjoy them.

***FOR CUSTOMIZED DOORS/MIRRORS: While each door and mirror is one of a kind, I am able to customize selected prints to doors and mirror frames for an additional price. If you have questions and would like to discuss these options, please email me.
